This organization’s motto has been for over fifty years, “For Brokers, By Brokers” - a guiding principle that truly serves the interest of its members. For this reason in particular, I am genuinely honored to serve as your AIR President for 2012.
In my 20 plus years in the business, AIR has been an integral part of my brokerage business and enabled me to provide substantial benefits to clients. To have served on AIR’s Board and now as President is gratifying because the experience and value I have derived from membership.
In 2012, the AIR will focus its efforts on a number of meaningful projects. Primary among these is a complete re-write of the WinAIR Forms software and the continued development of the AIR’s training programs.
WinAIR Forms are the most widely used commercial real estate forms in California and enjoys significant use throughout the country. The fact is, however, a software re-write is overdue. In order to continue to be the go-to forms product among commercial real estate professionals, the software needs to be upgraded, taking advantage of current technologies that will make the product more accessible and easier to use. The goal is to deliver a much-improved WinAIR Forms product by the 4th quarter of 2012, which will include standard redline and document comparison capabilities!
A second goal of 2012 is the continued development of the AIR’s training department. During the past two years the AIR has created a number of comprehensive training programs covering CDX, WinAIR Forms, AIRSpace, and e-MULTIPLE. These programs are delivered through various methods including face-to-face meetings, online webinars, and a growing library of videos posted on the AIR’s website as well as YouTube. By becoming more knowledgeable about the AIR’s products and services our members are able to conduct business more quickly and easily and receive greater benefit from the association.
In 2012 we want to expand our training offerings, making it as convenient as possible for our members to become educated in every one of the AIR’s products or services. In order to accomplish this goal we will be looking to create more opportunities for members to access the programs at their convenience, through videos and webinars.
I should point out that as always, the AIR will continue to offer the most complete and accurate property database in the industry. I fully understand the AIR’s data is the cornerstone of its success. The AIR’s commitment to providing complete and accurate data to our membership is as high as ever. Data integrity is and will always be our top priority.
2012 promises steady progress for commercial real estate based on improving fundamentals, including a declining vacancy rate, positive net absorption and stabilization of lease and sale values. As the market continues its rebound in 2012, we all hope to benefit.
